You're reading: Prosecutor’s office seeking to recover Hr 19.5 million from Tymoshenko

The prosecutor's office has brought a lawsuit for compensation of Hr 19.5 million for losses allegedly caused by former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko in the frames of the criminal case on the activities of the United Energy System of Ukraine corporation, which she once headed.

"In this case, the prosecutor’s office has made a claim for compensation. The lawsuit demands compensation of the full amount of damages specified in this case, which is Hr 19.5 million," Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevhen Blazhivsky said at a briefing in Kyiv on March 28.

He said that the charges involve embezzlement of the budget funds and tax evasion.
