You're reading: Prospects of signing association agreement with EU will become clear in December, says Yanukovych

Whether or not Ukraine can sign an association agreement with the European Union in spring 2014 will become clear this December, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.

“December will determine this. I don’t want to say today that we will resolve all of the issues that we want to resolve with Russia,” he said in an interview with Ukrainian television channels.

Yanukovych reiterated that vital issues in Ukrainian-Russian relations will undoubtedly be resolved, but their solution will take some time.

In this context, Yanukovych recalled that the two countries have launched import substitution programs. “I am convinced that we will still find the compromises that we need,” Yanukovych said.

“We have to do it, we have a duty to do it, and we will do it,” he said.
