With the assistance of Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka PACE co-rapporteurs have obtained a permission to visit former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko in Lukyanivske detention facility (Kyiv).

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO), following a meeting of Pshonka with PACE co-rapporteurs Marietta de Pourbaix-Lundin and Mailis Reps on March 28, the PGO received a letter from PACE secretary general with a request for help in arranging a meeting between PACE representatives and Lutsenko.

"The letter contained a request to organize such a meeting on March 29 at 1100. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, in turn, on March 28 sent a relevant letter to Kyiv Court of Appeals with a request for permission to a meeting of the representatives with Lutsenko. Permission was granted and the court has informed the PGO and the detention facility about this in writing," reads the statement.
