Members of the board of trustees of the Okhmatdyt National Children's Hospital and representatives of non-governmental organizations have demanded that Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov comment on the situation with the funds allocated for the construction of a modern building at the hospital.

“We, members of the board of trustees at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Hospital and representatives of non-governmental organizations, express our deep disappointment at the inability of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to ensure smooth and timely financing for the modernization of the country’s main children’s hospital,” reads an open letter to the prime minister, which was made available to Interfax-Ukraine.

The authors of the letter expressed their indignation at the redistribution of funds, according to which Hr 50 million out of Hr 2.2 billion was allocated for the construction of a new building at the children’s hospital.

“You, as prime minister, must honestly admit that the completion of the modernization and the beginning of the operation of a new building at Okhmatdyt, in which 25,000 seriously ill children could have been saved, will not happen by the end of 2013 as you publicly promised,” reads the letter.

As reported, according to government resolution No. 472-r of July 3, 2013, the Cabinet of Ministers ordered the allocation of UAH 2.138 billion for development programs, of which only Hr 50 million was earmarked to Ukreuroinfraproject for the construction of a modern building at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Hospital (Kyiv) at 28/1 Chornovola Street in the Shevchenkivsky district of Kyiv.
