You're reading: Rada-approved Cabinet ‘government of winners’

Instead of the national unity government, Ukraine has formed "a government of winners" that included nationalist extremist representatives, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The agreement on a joint investigation of the acts of violence and
the obligation to set up a national unity government sank into oblivion.
Instead, as was announced on Maidan, ‘a government of winners’ has been
set up and includes representatives of nationalist extremists,” the
ministry said on its website on Thursday.

Overall, the agreement to settle Ukraine’s crisis, signed on February
21 and certified by the foreign ministers of Germany, Poland and
France, is still not being implemented, Russia said.

“Militants, who have yet to surrender arms and vacate administrative
buildings, announced their intention to ‘bring order’ to all the
Ukrainian regions. Threats are being made, as was underscored in today’s
statement by Viktor Yanukovych,” the ministry said.

“Agreements about constitutional reform which,
under the February 21 Agreement, is to precede the presidential
elections have been forgotten . We are convinced that only a constitutional framework which
protects the interests of all responsible political forces and all the
Ukrainian regions serves the interests of national reconciliation and
stability in the long-term perspective,” the statement said.

“There are serious concerns about the repeal of the law ‘On the
foundations of the governmental language policy’ in breach of Ukraine’s
international obligations, ‘the initiatives’ leading to further
infringement of minorities’ rights, limitation of the freedom of the
press, the banning of certain political parties,” the Russian Foreign
Ministry said.

It is also necessary to prevent interference in the Church’s affairs,
desecration of Orthodox churches and memorials to WWII heroes who
liberated Ukraine from fascism and other monuments, the ministry said.
