The Verkhovna Rada at first reading adopted a bill on amending the Tax Code regarding improving tax rules (No. 9661-d), which foresees a moratorium on the use of fines in 2012 on business entities operating according to the simplified system of taxation, accounting and reporting.

Some 258 of the 419 registered MPs voted for the decision on March 14.

The head of the parliamentary committee on finance, banking, tax and customs policy told Interfax-Ukraine that the bill includes most of the proposals made by single tax payers.

"The document foresees a moratorium on the use of administrative penalties for certain violations of tax legislation during this year. In particular, this concerns violations in filling in tax declarations, paying a single tax of 15% for the first and second group entrepreneurs engaged in activities not specified in the certificate, errors in keeping income and expense books," he said.

In addition, the bill proposes to provide jewelry and precious metals manufacturers and sellers with the possibility of applying a simplified taxation system, simplifies the procedure of registering single tax payers, and so on.
