Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov has said that the parliament is ready to ratify Association Agreement with the European Union as soon as Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko submits it to lawmakers for consideration.

“The parliament is ready to ratify the Association Agreement with EU
on the very day the president submits it to the Verkhovna Rada,” he said
during the meeting with a delegation of European People’s Party (EPP)
on Wednesday, as Turchynov’s spokesman reported.

According to the parliamentary speaker, it is extremely important for Ukraine to sign the Association Agreement with the EU.

Turchynov thanked EPP representatives for the support Ukraine has
always felt when struggling for a democratic and European path of
development.

“But, in addition to support and introduction of the sanctions
against Russian Federation, one also needs military-technical
cooperation and aid to the country to stop the aggressor,” he added.

In turn, EPP Group Chairman Manfred Weber said that the delegation
came to Ukraine to demonstrate how highly they estimate partnership with
Ukraine.

In the course of the discussion of the situation over Ukraine, he
said that one can’t talk about national Ukrainian conflict any more,
this is common European conflict, where EU citizens have also been
affected.

Besides, Weber stressed that the group supports introduction of the
powerful economic sanctions against the Russian Federation, since
according to it this is only way to stop escalation of the conflict in
Ukraine.

Association Agreement with the EU was signed in Brussels on June 27, 2014.
