You're reading: Registration on election video monitoring portal relaxed

In connection with the large interest to the use of the Ukrainian parliamentary election video monitoring system, the registration on the portal www.vybory2012.gov.ua has been relaxed, the press service of the Sitronics Information Technologies, an international IT company which designed the system, has reported.

“From 0800 am on October 28, 2012 the quick registration on the portal
www.vybory2012.gov.ua is introduced and the restrictions for the number of
polling stations, to which access can be obtained, are lifted. The relaxation
provided will allow Ukrainian citizens and other Internet users more quickly and
easier access the system and monitor the voting process at all targeted polling
stations,” reads the report.

As of 0200 pm on October 27, 2012, the number of users registered on the
portal exceeded 75,000.

The Web site was designed as a part of a project on the creation of video
parliamentary election surveillance system. The portal enables over 300,000
users to simultaneously watch video broadcasts on the Internet and over 10,000
users to simultaneously watch broadcasts from each camera.

The Ukrainian parliamentary election video monitoring system was deployed by
Sitronics IT, Ukrtelecom, Datagroup, MTS Ukraine, Intertelecom, Wireless
Development Alliance and Ukrposhta under the law on the specifics of provision
transparency and democracy of the Ukrainian parliamentary election on October
28, 2012 that took effect on August 5, 2012.
