The Kyiv city state administration has introduced free travels in Kyiv underground for the retired, the Kyiv city administration's press service quoted the related resolution.



The administration has introduced free underground travels for Kyiv’s retired and disabled residents, which had not been entitled to privileged tariff before. The retired and the disabled will have to present their pension certificates issued by a social protection agency.

The city budget is obliged to cover losses the utility enterprises – carriers will incur to this effect.

In addition, the city administration has introduced a free travel by two means of transport for families with many children (three and more under-age children) and for nonworking people taking care of disabled children.

These categories can use the free travel service when presenting temporary certificates or certificates issued by labour and social protection departments of district state administrations at the place of their registration.

Earlier a free underground travel was established for veterans of war, Chornobyl victims, labour veterans, disabled, children-orphans, judges, prosecutors and investigators of all levels and Verkhovna Rada deputies.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Anti-Monopoly Committee filed a lawsuit against the Kyiv city state administration, the Kyivskyi Metropoliten and the Kyivpastrans for violating the competitive legislation by increasing fares in public transport.

The Kyiv city state administration raised public transport fares 3-4 times to UAH 1.5-2 per one trip on Nov. 4.

The Kyiv city council introduced privileges for low-income families to buy yearly underground and public surface transport passage tickets.
