Roman Landik has been expelled from the Regions Party, the head of the Luhansk city branch of the party, Oleksandr Tkachenko, has said.

He said that the decision had been taken at a meeting of the political council of the city organization on Tuesday.

"The text [of the decision] will be available on the Web site of the regional organization of the party," Tkachenko said.

Earlier, he also said that the political council would pass an appeal to the Regions Party faction in the city council to initiate a recall of Landik’s deputy mandate.

As reported, the prosecutor’s office of Luhansk region opened a criminal case against member of Luhansk City Council Roman Landik on charges of disorderly conduct (Part 3 of Article 296) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on July 7.

Earlier media reported that Landik had beaten up a young woman seated at another table in a restaurant. This incident was recorded on the video and the clip was posted on the Internet.

The injured woman, aged 20, is currently at the neurological department of Luhansk hospital suffering from concussion and bruising.

Landik is the son of Volodymyr Landik, a member of the Regions Party faction at Ukraine’s parliament.
