The list of Ukrainian products which are banned from Russia could be expanded, the Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said.

“Today these products are referred to as risky ones, so enhanced
control is performed,” Russia’s chief sanitary doctor, Rospotrebnadzor
Chief Anna Popova told Interfax on Wednesday.

“Necessary measures will be definitely taken upon the appearance of
products not meeting demands of the Russian law,” Popova said.

On April 7 the Russian watchdog banned supplies from six Ukrainian enterprises producing cheese.

The Ukrainian control bodies do not have grounds to remove Russian
goods from circulation, Rospotrebnadzor said on April 3. “While holding
control measures Rospotrebnadzor found no inconsistencies in regard to
safety or labeling demands in the products, mentioned in mass media
reports and being withdrawn in Ukraine,” the Russian watchdog said.

In Feb. 2012 Russia banned cheese imports of some Ukrainian
producers. In April 2012 it was decided following talks between
Rospotrebnadzor and Ukrainian delegations in Moscow to gradually lift
the embargo on cheese supplies if Ukrainian producers comply with the
Russian demands.

Interfax has reported that products from Ukraine’s Roshen confectionary producers had been banned in Russia.
