You're reading: Russia vows not to close Library of Ukrainian literature in Moscow

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is continuing to take all measures to resolve the situation around the Library of Ukrainian Literature in Moscow.

"The Ukrainian Embassy in Russia, at the request of the Ukrainian foreign minister, is continuing to make every effort to fully normalize the situation around the Library of Ukrainian Literature in Moscow," the director of the ministry’s information policy department, Oleh Voloshyn, told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

He said that Ukrainian diplomats, Foreign Ministry representatives, law enforcers, and library management were holding regular meetings and that they made sure that the Russian side would fulfill its promise not to close the library.

It was reported earlier that Moscow prosecutors launched a criminal case over the distribution within the library of literature inciting to ethnic hatred, with some media outlets claiming that the library was closed after the second search. The library resumed work after Orthodox Christmas holidays.
