The Russian Foreign Ministry will coordinate maritime activity in the Azov-Black Sea basin, in the context of recent geopolitical changes, says a protocol of the joint meeting of the Russian government's Marine Board and the Crimean Marine Council chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, a source with knowledge of the protocol told Interfax.

The conference was held in Sevastopol, on April 1, to discuss the formation of an international legal regime for the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, the procedure for using water bio-resources, prospecting and development of hydrocarbons, and construction and operation of pipelines, in addition to other issues.

After the conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry, assisted by relevant federal executive agencies, was ordered “to analyze the current agreements with Ukraine pertaining to maritime activity in the Azov-Black Sea basin, to organize a negotiating process on adjustments based on the latest geopolitical changes.”
