Moscow - Angola supports Russia's position on Ukraine, said Angolan Foreign Minister Georges Rebelo Chikoti.

“Angola expresses solidarity with Russia on many issues, including on the situation in Ukraine. Angola highly values Russia’s position and hopes that a solution acceptable for all parties will be found,” Chikoti said a press conference after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Angola is grateful to Russia for supporting its efforts in Africa, he said. “Russia has always supported not only humanitarian missions, but also forces of peace, and it has always assisted Angola in all its efforts to maintain peace,” he said.

Chikoti said that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Angola helped raise bilateral relations to a new level and created conditions allowing Russian banks to open a credit line for Angola. “This will allow us to further relations and to broaden bilateral trade,” the Angolan foreign minister said.

“The credit line will help our countries promote and expand cooperation,” he said.
