Militants in the self-proclaimed Donbas republics have shelled Ukrainian military positions 36 times since midnight, the press center of the anti-terrorist operation in Eastern Ukraine, said on April 1.

Militants fired mortars against Ukrainian positions in Avdiyivka and Nevelske, while the positions in Novhorodske, Opytne, Pisky and Luhanske were attacked with grenades, machineguns, small arms and antiaircraft mounts, the press center wrote on its Facebook page.

“In the Luhansk area, the enemy was shooting in the direction of Novozvanivka and Stepne, and in the Mariupol area, in the direction of Novotroitske,” the press center said.

The Ukrainian armed forces fired back, only with “small arms and automatic grenade launchers,” the press center said.
