You're reading: Russian-separatist forces who seized Kominternove prevent OSCE monitors from entering, fire at Ukrainian military

Militants who seized on Dec. 22 morning the town of Kominternove (near Mariupol) which is located in the "gray area", have not allowed representatives of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE to this area and opened fire on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“According to the recent reports, the gunmen did not allow OSCE representatives to work in the area of Kominternove, and late in the afternoon, they fired from the 82-mm mortars at the positions of the anti-terrorist operation forces on this section of the contact line,” reads a statement released on the website of the anti-terrorist operation press centre on Tuesday evening.
