The campaign entitled "Do not abandon your counterparts" demanding early release of Ukrainian citizens from captivity is being held in the center of Kyiv near the building of the presidential administration.
Earlier, Ukrainian parliamentarian Nadiia Savchenko called on those, who were released from captivity and relatives of Ukrainian citizens who are currently imprisoned, to come to the presidential administration to accelerate the process of liberation.
Addressing the gathering, Savchenko said that the process of prisoners’ release should be accelerated, because it takes a few months now.
“The president had to work out the real mechanism of people exchange long ago … It needs to be simplified, and it is possible to simplify. Self-promotion is inappropriate here, and there is no need to say that it’s difficult – it is not!” MP said at the rally.
Savchenko confirmed that she started her hunger strike to draw government’s attention to the problem of prisoners’ liberation. However, this did not happen, the deputy recognized.
“I believe that this rally should be attended by deputies, including Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko and the president of Ukraine” Savchenko said.
Some 100 activists appeared with Savchenko at the rally, a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine agency said.
