You're reading: SBU offers Moscow Patriarchate procession to bypass Boryspil to avoid provocations

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has said that the religious procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate is proceeding peacefully without violations. It has asked participants in the march to go around Boryspil, where the procession has been banned, to avoid possible violations.

“There are no religious conflicts there,” Head of the SBU branch in Kyiv and Kyiv region Stepan Hreschuk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday. He stressed that any illegal actions will be regarded as a provocation aimed at destabilizing the situation.

In addition, he said march participants have been offered to go around Boryspil, Kyiv region, to prevent any violations.

As reported, on July 22, Boryspil City Council banned the movement of the religious procession organized by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate through the territory of the city.

The All-Ukrainian religious procession for peace, love and prayer organized by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate began on July 3.

On July 27, on the eve of the anniversary celebration of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine, participants of the two columns intend to meet in Kyiv, on Volodymyrska Hirka (St. Volodymyr Hill) and walk together towards the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra where a prayer ceremony is scheduled to take place.
