Separatists in Luhansk have taken over the building of the region's prosecutor's office. Olha Diachenko, press officer for the region's prosecutor, told Interfax-Ukraine that armed people dressed in camouflage had entered the building of the prosecutor's office on May 7 afternoon. "The prosecutor's office has been taken over. They staff have just been allowed to come in and take their belongings," Diachenko said.
The building of the Luhansk region’s prosecutor’s office was first occupied by pro-Russian activists on April 29. On May 2, they left the building after negotiations with the administration of the region’s prosecutor’s office and the agency resumed normal operation.
On Wednesday, separatists gathered near the building of the Interior Ministry’s department in the Luhansk region to demand that Anatoliy Naumenko, the head of the Interior Ministry’s Main Department, “swear his allegiance to the people.” They agreed to wait for Naumenko’s response until 5:00 p.m. local time. The activists said they will make a tent city in front of the building of the Interior Ministry’s Main Department if he refuses.
The buildings of the region’s prosecutor’s office and the region’s police are located close to each other.
