You're reading: Serviceman killed, two wounded in Ukrainian firing range

LVIV – One serviceman was killed and two were wounded on the Yavorivsky firing range in the Lviv region on Thursday, the Western regional media center of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told Interfax.

According to Colonel Oleksandr Poroniuk, the head of the media center, said the incident had occurred during firing practice using an AGS-17 grenade launcher.

“A grenade exploded close to the unit. As a result, three troops were wounded,” he said.

Poroniuk said the wounded were taken to a military hospital in Lviv. One of them died on his way to the hospital. The two wounded troops are now receiving medical assistance.

Military prosecutors have left for the accident site.
