ODESA – The Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) from the onset of its work has been establishing facts which might confirm Russian participation in the conflict in Ukraine's east.

The mission has already reported on some types of weapons, including electrical equipment, which disrupted work of the mission’s drones, Deputy Head of the SMM OSCE Alexander Hug said.

He made these comments while answering the question on whether the mission established presence of Russian servicemen and equipment on the occupied by LPR and DPR territories of Ukraine.

Hug also recalled that the mission reported about servicemen with Russian insignia, and talked to some of the detained, who said they served in the Russian army. Besides, Hug said monitors observed traces left by vehicles crossing the Russian-Ukrainian border, however, not these vehicles alone.

At the same time, Hug stressed that the mission was only reporting on what it saw and heard, providing no conclusions.
