About 3,000 businessmen protested against the adoption of the new Tax Code near Lviv Regional State Administration on Thursday.

They held banners reading "Azarov’s Tax Code [Ukraine Prime Minister Mykola Azarov] – a wreath on the grave of small and medium businesses," "Where are holidays for small businesses?" "’No’ to taxation terror!" and shouted "Disgrace" to Azarov and Vice Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko.

Lviv businessmen are demanding a moratorium be imposed on the consideration of the government’s draft Tax Code, which, in their opinion, threatens the survival of small businesses. They are also demanding that the representatives of business organizations be involved in the development of an alternative Tax Code.

According to the protesting businessmen, they are ready on November 16 to leave for Kyiv to picket the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, as the consideration of the draft Tax Code at second reading is scheduled for Nov. 16.
