You're reading: Survey shows Poroshenko and Tymoshenko top presidential candidate ratings

The leading candidates for the post of president of Ukraine remain current President Petro Poroshenko and head of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Social Monitoring Center and Ukrainian Institute of Social and Economic Transformation of the Institute of Economics and Forecasting under Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences.

According to the survey, the results of which will be presented in Kyiv on August 30, Poroshenko leads, with 12.5 percent support of all respondents who have already made up their mind and 20.3 percent of respondents who have already made up their mind about whom they will vote for. Tymoshenko is second place, with 9.9 percent of all respondents and 15.9 percent of those who have already made up their mind.

They are followed leader of the Samopomich Party Andriy Sadovy (6.3 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively), Radical Party leader Oleh Liashko (6.2 percent and 9.9 percent), Vadym Rabynovych (5.9 percent and 9.8 percent) and the leader of the Opposition Block Yuriy Boiko (5.6 percent and 9 percent).

The survey was conducted between August 11-16, 2106 in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions and Crimea. Some 2,016 people were polled in face-to-face interviews. The margin of error from 95 percent of those polled is between 1.31-2.18 percent.
