You're reading: Sweden’s Bildt: Parliamentary election in Ukraine was a ‘step backward’

BRUSSELS - Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has said he is concerned that Sunday's parliamentary election in Ukraine was "a step backward" in the democratic process.

The minister wrote this on his page on Twitter on Monday.

While commenting on the findings of the OSCE observation mission,
Bildt wrote: “The OSCE and other observers say that democratic progress
seems to have reversed in Ukraine, and that election was a step
backward. Worrying.”
