The Ukrainian government has increased the state quotas for the training of technical specialists and cut the quotas for the education of managers, economists, and lawyers, Ukrainian Education and Science, Youth and Sports Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk said.

"While forming state quotas this year, we significantly increased the percentage of [quotas for the training of] technical specialists compared to 2011. We upped the quotas for the training of electronics specialists (by 34%), energy and mechanical engineering (by 15%), radio engineering, radio-electronic and communication technologies (by 25%), metallurgy and material engineering (by 64%), chemical engineering and engineering (by 46.5%), aviation (by 44%), and transport infrastructure (by 32%)," the minister said.

At the same time, the state quotas for the training of specialties "that are not in demand on the labor market," including management, economy, and law, were reduced.

"I would recommend training for engineering and technical specialties, which are directly connected with industry and economy development. Ecologists, engineering, rocket and space engineers, and mechanical engineers will be in demand in the 21st century," Tabachnyk said.
