The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has formed a temporary investigation commission to study the lawfulness of the acquisition of the Mezhyhiria residence by leader of the Regions Party Victor Yanukovych.

The decision on forming the temporary commission was supported by 198 MPs onJan. 27(150 MPs’ votes are needed to form the commission).

Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn proposed the factions to submit their candidates for members of the commission and noted that he will not sign a relevant resolution until the commission’s staffing is completed.

The commission’s membership will be approved next week.
