Poltava – Vice Premier and Social Policy Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Tigipko has said that the increase of social payments and compensation payments to depositors of former Soviet Sberbank will not boost inflation.

The government is constantly keeping the situation under control, Tigipko told reporters in Poltava.

"Inflation rates are at a record low. Moreover, additional assets will be received from the introduction of the luxury tax and [the tax on] offshore operations," he said.

Tigipko added that the current authorities of Ukraine have managed to improve social standards only now, as they had to deal with the critical situation in the country inherited from the previous government.
