Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Sergiy Tigipko has said he thinks the new Labor Code should be adopted after the parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

"I wouldn’t adopt it now. We need a quiet atmosphere to examine all of its aspects. I would [put the Labor Code to the vote] immediately after the election. We’ll have polished it by then," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Tigipko said that eleven provisions of the draft labor code haven’t yet been agreed with the Federation of Employers of Ukraine. At the same time, representatives of trade unions have already considered the current draft of the document.

"I’m of the opinion that it should be adopted in the form in which it has already been agreed with the trade unions," Tigipko said.

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for this fall.
