Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has promised to submit to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine a statement on a crime allegedly committed by the current authorities – an ungrounded emission of money and the withdrawal of funds to offshore zones.

She told reporters Tuesday before her interrogation at the main investigation department of the Prosecutor General’s Office that she had ordered the opposition government to establish the cause of the rapid rise in prices.

Speaking about the results of this study, Tymoshenko said: "We studied the amount of hryvnias issued in 2010… The emission amounted to Hr 99.671 billion."

"Almost half of the budget was a money emission," she said.

Tymoshenko said that this fact indicates that in 2010 "the hryvnia printing press was working at full capacity."

She said that "the closest business partner of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych’s son" was heading the National Bank of Ukraine.

"They are sending this emission as refinancing to their controlled banks. Then, this money is pressurizing the domestic market… and it means that prices in the country are soaring," she said.
