Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Friday arrest of Batkivschyna party leader and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has become possible because not enough people have expressed support for her, said Oleksandr Turchynov, a deputy leader of Batkivschyna.

"They have managed to make this disgraceful arrest exactly because there were not enough people. Exactly because millions of Ukrainians are remaining indifferent," Turchynov said at a rally of about 200 people near Kyiv Pechersk Court on Saturday.

He called on Ukrainians to support protests against Tymoshenko’s arrest.

Tymoshenko’s husband Oleksandr, who is also attending the rally, said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine that Yulia had let him know through her lawyer that she was "firm, that we should also stay firm, and that everything is okay with her."

Oleksandr Tymoshenko said also that he intended to participate in all Batkivschyna events in his wife’s support.
