The Prosecutor General's Office has rejected former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko's request to visit Odesa region, the party's press service reported on Wednesday.

Her visit was scheduled for June 15-17, in response to invitations received from residents of the region.

"Investigator Oleksandr Nechvohlod took this decision in spite of the June resolution of the European Parliament, in which the European Parliament recommended that the Ukrainian authorities stop the political repression of Yulia Tymoshenko and cancel the ban on her traveling, which restricts the political activity of the Batkivschyna Party leader," the party said.

Tymoshenko submitted the request to the Prosecutor General’s Office on June 7.
