Kharkiv – Former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko is suffering from sharp pains due to her hunger strike, a doctor from the German Charite Clinic, Lutz Harms, has said.

“Naturally the hunger strike did no good to the pain syndrome. Now she’s suffering much sharper pains, and today we can relieve it only via medication,” he told journalists outside Kharkiv-based central Clinical Hospital No. 5 on Friday.

The doctor did not answer clearly whether Tymoshenko’s health state was good enough for her to attend a court hearing of the UESU case on November 23.

“We cannot make decisions here. But there remains not much time until this date,” Harms said.

As reported, on October 29, Tymoshenko went on hunger strike to protest vote rigging during the parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

Following a meeting with the German doctors on November 15, Tymoshenko decided to stop the hunger strike and took a sip of juice on the same day.

Kharkiv-based Kyivsky District Court scheduled a sitting to hear the criminal case against Tymoshenko on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation for November 23.
