Kharkiv – Former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko is grateful to President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski for his support, the ex-minister's defense lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko has said.

“Yulia Volodymyrivna thanked President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski for the support he expressed to her personally yesterday during a meeting with representatives of the united opposition. Yulia Volodymyrivna completely shares the position of the Polish president, according to whom Ukraine’s European prospects are becoming more and more remote due to the absolutely improper actions of the Ukrainian authorities,” the lawyer told reporters near Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv, where Tymoshenko is undergoing treatment.

The ex-premier also thanked the premiers of Italy and Spain, Mario Monti and Mariano Rajoy, for their support, although she does not share their hopes for fast and positive consideration of the appeal against the ruling in the gas case at the Higher Specialized Court.

“Unfortunately, Yulia Volodymyrivna does not share such hopes. As the events that took place at the Higher Specialized Court on June 26, when in the presence of EP observers Aleksander Kwasniewski and Pat Cox, the Higher Specialized Court blatantly broke the law and again unreasonably postponed the hearing of the case, upon the direct instructions of Viktor Yanukovych, with the only aim being to prevent the hearing of Yulia Tymoshenko’s appeal by the European Court of Human Rights,” Tymoshenko’s lawyer said.

As reported, on July 1 the Polish president met with Ukrainian oppositionists in Kyiv and asked them to pass his words of support to Tymoshenko.

The premiers of Italy and Spain are planning to send a letter to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to express hope for a successful outcome of the situation of Tymoshenko.
