Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is planning to lodge a lawsuit with a court in London this week against Ukrainian First Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin regarding the release of misleading information, reads a statement posted on her official Web site on Sunday.

"This week we will lodge an appeal against Mr. Kuzmin in a court in London regarding his spreading misleading information in an interview with the BBC. This is direct jurisdiction," the ex premier’s lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, told Ukrainian television’s TVi channel.

He said he was confident that an independent British court would satisfy the lawsuit.

"Under certain circumstances, Mr. Kuzmin could be declared a criminal in Britain, and this will lead to certain consequences," he said.

"Unfortunately, the defense team of Yulia Tymoshenko, like 99 percent of Ukrainians, does not trust the Ukrainian courts. We will seek protection in courts outside Ukraine," Vlasenko said.

On April 17, the first deputy head of the Batkivschyna Party, Oleksandr Turchynov, said that Tymoshenko would file appeals at international courts against the Ukrainian authorities.
