Former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has accused Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych of deliberately disrupting the signing of the association agreement with the EU.

"Today, keeping me behind bars, he, in fact, is disrupting the signing of the association agreement," she said in her closing arguments in Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court on Thursday.

Tymoshenko said that it was important for Yanukovych "to stay in his own bog and consume Ukrainian resources."

"If the association agreement is signed, he [the president] will need to comply with European standards," she said.

Tymoshenko called on everybody on whom it depends to prevent the disruption of the signing of the association agreement with the EU.
