KHARKIV - Opponents and supporters of former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko gathered outside of Kharkiv regional court of appeals where hearings of a case of financial abuses at UESU Corporation are to begin on Monday.

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported in the morning that
Tymoshenko’s opponents are carrying national flags and placards “Yulia
to jail,” “She is a liar,” and “A thief should be in jail”.

Many of them are wearing black T-shirts with similar slogans. They
occupy almost half of the square in front of the court, including lawns.

Supporters of the former premier as well as deputies representing
BYT-Batkivschyna (Fatherland) faction started gathering at about 0830.
They are wearing T-shirts with slogans “Freedom to Yulia” and
“Batkivschyna above all”.

The police say up to 5,000 people have gathered in the square.

Earlier reports said that Kyivsky district court would resume
hearings of the case of abuses at UESU corporation in the building of
Kharkiv regional court of appeals.

According to the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, Tymoshenko refused to attend the hearing.

“Tymoshenko refused to go to court saying that she wanted to consult her German doctors,” a report of the service says.
