Ukraine has started a procedure for agreeing with China the conditions for the supply of meat and meat products to the country, and expects to begin exports from early 2014, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said.

“We’ve started the work on the certification for receiving permits to supply all types of meat and meat products to the Chinese market,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The minister said that it could take several months to finish the procedure for certifying Ukrainian meat producers.

China is a large importer of meat and every year the country boosts its imports.
