You're reading: Ukraine cuts cheese exports by 15.7% in 2012

Ukraine in 2012 exported 67,670 tonnes of cheese, which is 15.7% down on 2011, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine. 

According to the service, in monetary terms cheese exports decreased by 19.5%, to $358.4 million.

Ukraine in 2012 reduced cheese imports by 28.5%, to 17,000 tonnes. The country imported cheese worth $91.54 million, while in 2011 the figure was $68 million.

According to the service, butter exports from Ukraine in 2012 fell by three times and amounted to 679 tonnes. In monetary terms the country exported butter worth $2.887 million, which is 3.3 times down on 2011.

At the same time, butter imports to Ukraine last year grew by 81.2%, to 8,980 tonnes. The country imported butter worth a total of $38.67 million, while in 2011 the figure was $25.78 million.
