You're reading: Ukraine imports 39% less gas in 7 months

Ukraine imported 18.738 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas in January-July this year, which is 39% less year-on-year, the Ukrtransgas press service said. 

“Since the beginning of 2012, the transit of natural gas through the territory of Ukraine to states in Western Europe amounted to 49 billion cubic meters, with orders from consumer countries met in full. Six billion cubic meters of natural gas was transported in July,” the company said.

There was almost 29 bcm transported for Ukrainian consumers over the seven months, about the same year-on-year.

The projected balance of natural gas receipt and distribution in 2012 involves national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy importing 27 bcm and Dmitry Firtash’s Ostchem Holding, Ltd. (Cyprus) importing 8.124 bcm.

Ukraine has confirmed plans to pump 13.135 bcm of gas into underground storage this year, including 4.887 bcm in Q2, 7.602 bcm in Q3, and 0.646 bcm in Q4.
