Ukraine's opposition parties are protesting alleged election fraud in last month's parliamentary election.

Western observers have
denounced Sunday’s election as unfair. They said the imprisonment of
President Viktor Yanukovych’s arch-foe, Yulia Tymoshenko, and
non-transparent vote tallying were a step back from democracy.

Three
pro-Western opposition parties made a strong showing in the part of the
vote where electorate chooses parties, but they accuse the authorities
or rigging the results in a number of individual races.

On Monday,
more than a week after the vote, election officials were still trying
to finalize election results. Opposition activists were gathering in
front of the Central Election Commission building in Kiev to rally
against the alleged fraud.
