You're reading: Ukraine rejects Russia’s proposals on crisis settlement in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has described as unacceptable the proposal for settling the crisis in Ukraine, set forth in the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement sounds like an ultimatum. The position laid down in it is absolutely unacceptable for the Ukrainian side,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said on Monday.

Kyiv’s position is that talks with Russia with international mediation must proceed exclusively on the basis of respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and in compliance with the principle of non-interference in its internal affairs, he said.

“It means that the Russian side should immediately halt aggression and provocations on the territory of Ukraine, to immediately withdraw its troops to the places of its constant disposition. The positions set forth in the statement cannot be accepted and are an instance of direct interference in Ukraine’s internal affairs,” he also said.

Russia said earlier on Monday that it is ready to start shaping an international mechanism for settling the crisis in Ukraine by forming a compact support group for Ukraine.
