You're reading: Ukraine to carry out 7th wave of mobilization to armed forces

Ukraine will carry out the seventh wave of mobilization to its armed forces, the general staff of the armed forces announced on its official Facebook account on Jan. 15.

“Due to the demobilization of the fourth wave, there is the need to re-staff the armed forces with both contract servicemen and mobilized ones. Naturally, the more contract servicemen are engaged, the less the need for mobilized ones,” the general staff said.

“The seventh wave of mobilization to the armed forces will be carried out,” it said.

The Ukrainian armed forces are interested in being staffed with as many professional and motivated people, i.e. contract servicemen, as possible, it said.

“Work is being done now with those mobilized during the fourth wave and also with those demobilized during the previous waves to engage them as contract servicemen. After the number of contract servicemen becomes clear, we will be able to say how many people we need to mobilize,” it said.
