Centers to control and prevent diseases are to be created in Ukraine, Health Minister of Ukraine Raisa Bohatyriova has said.

“This will favor a considerable increase in our capabilities in predicting, and planning preventive sanitary measures. The first steps in this direction have already been taken: the Ukrainian Center for Socially Dangerous Disease Control has been created,” Bohatyriova said during the hotline with the readers of Komsomolskaya Pravda v Ukraine edition, as the Health Ministry’s press service reported on Wednesday.

“I strongly support periodic and regular health examinations. I think every person, especially older people, should do this not just once a year, but every half a year,” the health minister said.

“Looking at this problem today, I would like to stress that periodic and regularly health examinations have, without exaggeration, saved millions of citizens,” she said.

Bohatyriova also said it would be nice if the national lawmakers adopt a norm on obligatory periodic health examinations, and employers undertake to organize and provide regular medical examinations of their employees.

But a family doctor must be the main propagandist of obligatory examinations of citizens.

“And medical reforms foresee this, since [the family doctor] has unique information about the health of several generations, about hereditary and acquired diseases, and can draw up an optimal program of preventive care for a particular patient.
