You're reading: Ukraine to insist on applying unified election observation standards

While Ukraine holds the OSCE chairmanship in 2013, it will insist on applying unified election observation standards on all of its territory, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

“The Foreign Ministry presumes that unified standards of both the way
elections themselves are held and their observation, including as
regards the provision of favorable conditions for the work of
international observers, must be applied on the entire area of the OSCE,
from Texas and Iowa to Bucharest, Luhansk, Tbilisi and further
eastwards,” the ministry said in commenting on some remarks regarding
the recent parliamentary elections in this country by Audrey Glover, the
head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Ukraine.
