You're reading: Ukraine to introduce state register of water wells

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an order on state record-keeping of water wells, as well as their equipment with the means to measure the volume of extracted underground water.

According to the resolution No. 963 as of October 8, 2012, State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources from January 1, 2013 must ensure the introduction of state record keeping of water wells. In addition, the register should also include data on unused wells.

Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers obliged State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources together with the local executive bodies and local government bodies are to take measures to supply water wells with the means to measure the volume of extracted underground water by 2013.

This document also introduces amendments to the procedure for record keeping in a state water cadastre.
