Ukraine is taking diplomatic steps to settle the situation surrounding the Russian humanitarian convoy that entered Ukrainian territory without an International Committee of the Red Cross escort on Aug. 22, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said.

“If any actions are taken that go beyond the framework of providing international aid – although it has been broken already now – and if different objects or non-humanitarian gear are discovered in the contents of this convoy, the reaction will be different,” Lysenko said at a news conference in Kyiv on Aug. 22.

He did not clarify what Ukraine’s reaction would be in this case.

Lysenko said also that the Kyiv authorities were unaware of the convoy’s accurate whereabouts, as it is currently on a territory controlled by militants.
