You're reading: Ukraine urges Moldova to hold talks on trade restrictions, may respond with similar sanctions

Ukraine has urged Moldova to hold the talks on the trade restrictions on Ukrainian goods, and in the case of their failure has promised to introduce similar measures against Moldovan goods, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister - Economic Development and Trade of Minister Stepan Kubiv has said.

“If Moldova does not respond to the talks, we will use identical measures,” he said at a government meeting on April 29.

Kubiv said that Kyiv invited Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Moldova Octavian Calmac to visit Ukraine in early May for the talks on the trade restrictions.

He also said that the document on the introduction of trade restrictions by Moldova comes into force on the date of its publication and will be valid until the end of 2016. Kubiv also said that the document has not been published so far.
