You're reading: Ukraine’s Donbas Battalion denies reports of defeat

The commander of the Ukrainian Donbas volunteer territorial defense battalion, Semen Semenchenko, has dismissed the reports by representatives from the opposing armed groups that they defeated his battalion.

Earlier, representatives from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s
Republic claimed to have destroyed a roadblock of the Ukrainian
government forces between the towns of Kreminna and Rubizhne in Luhansk
region, and that the “Donbas” battalion, which “wanted to purge”
Rubizhne on Monday, “sustained heavy losses and was ruined almost
completely.”

For his part, Semenchenko wrote on his Facebook page on Monday that these claims were untrue.

“I have been overwhelmed with questions from patriots since this
morning: how many people have we lost. My answer is: none … Everything
is alright with Donbas,” Semenchenko wrote.
