You're reading: Ukrainian army engineer held in Donbas released

An exchange took place in the anti-terrorist operation zone in Donbas, thanks to which a soldier from an engineering unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mykhailo Kuchevsky, has been released, Ukrainian Defense Minister Vasyl Budyk said.

“Recently there was info from border guards that an exchange had taken place near Mayorsk. Today we decided to give information regarding this event. Not to break the fragile progress in the exchange effort, a decision was made: to hold off information on exchanges. Pictured is Kuchevsky, Mykhailo Ivanovych, a soldier of an engineering unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Budyk wrote on his Facebook page on July 4.

The release was secured with direct participation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the Minsk Group and a joint liberation center that consists of officers from Ukraine’s Security Service, Defense and Interior Ministries, prosecution authorities, and the Officers’ Corps.
