You're reading: Ukrainian defense minister leaves for Thailand to share experience on army reform

Ukrainian Defense Minister Pavlo Lebedev is on an official visit to Thailand, where he plans to hold talks with his counterpart, Air Chief Marshal Sukampol Suwannathat, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service reported on Wednesday.

Lebedev is heading a Ukrainian military delegation.

In addition, the defense minister is to meet with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Commander of the Royal Thai Army, General Prayuth Chan-ocha.

“During the meetings with the military and political leadership of the Kingdom of Thailand the sides will discuss the prospects for cooperation in the defense sector and concrete directions for its further development. In particular, they will speak about the revitalization of contacts between the military and political leaders and the exchange of experience on reform of the armed forces,” reads the statement.

The Ukrainian military delegation will visit Thailand until February 1.
